Annotated stills for own representation

My group trailed a still shot to represent the music video genre image. In this still I was looking in the mirror, putting on makeup, in the bathroom. I desaturated the colour of the picture to highlight the areas of my face that were lighter and connotes to the audience a negative emotion. The picture communicates to the audience that my image is important to me, and that I take pride in what I look like. We used an over the shoulder, low angled shot so that the audience could see my reflection in the mirror and they could clearly establish I was putting on my makeup. I was in the foreground of the shot, in the centre to communicate to the audience that I am the immediate attention and the focus of this shot. For props I used a makeup brush and make up products in the background to portray to the audience my insecurity as to why I was putting on makeup, so the makeup products symbolize what I use to mask my imperfections. I used high key lighting in the background to accentuate my looks and my skin and the use of the mirror to reflect my emotions as well as remind to the audience there is more to a person than their image.
If I were to have prepared this better I would have used a better costume, taking pride in my appearance as I was wearing a blue hoodie and top, so I would have worn a fancy shirt or dress so the audience could establish my characters traits. Although using the over the shoulder shot showed my face in the reflection of the mirror, I would have used a medium close up shot so I could convey to the audience my negative outlook of myself and changed the location to somewhere that represented the traits of the character.
