One convention of the music video genre is narrative. This still is taken from the music video 'The One' by Wolf colony. From this still the audience can decode that the theme of love is important in the song as they are acting as a couple. The audience can also indicate this theme from the title of the song. From this shot the audience can establish that the two are a couple and they have found 'the one'.
This still from the music video 'cool kids' by echosmith encodes to the audience that the bands music is important to them as it is on the performance genre. Although the woman is the main focus as she is the lead singer it is clear for the audience to recognise that the video is about the music rather than selling the image of the band. This still also uses Laura Mulveys male gaze theory as the woman is in the centre of the shot and is wearing a short, sparkly dress and heels which draws the audience's attention.
This still was taken from Fox's song called 'youth' and represents the artists image. Here she is represented as young and youthful as the use of the white background connotes purity and her fair skin represents her age. The artist is in the centre of the shot without anyone around her so this is easy for the audience to decode that this is about the audiences image.
