Active audience theory

 The Active audience theory created by Blumler and Katz describes the gratification theory-Why do people view the media? This can be seperated into four different catergories:
  • Information
  • Personal identity
  • Entertainment
  • Intergration and social interaction
Using the active audience theory by Blumler and Katz we have decided our music video would be consumed under the entertainment and personal identity gratification. This is because the music video follows the narrative genre and so creates the entertainment for the audience to view.The audience can relate to the character in the video as she is struggling with personal issues and her identity and the audience can decode this message and understanding that there is something wrong.
